1. Select a WordPress Hosting Plan

As introduced, the first step is to select an ideal plan

Site ground has three plans to choose from. You can select the plan according to your requirements and suitability, and proceed by clicking on get plan.

2. Connect Your Domain Name

In this step, you’ll have to enter your domain name.

Select the option if you have a domain name, “I already have a domain.”

Now, if you want to buy a new one, then click on “register a new domain” and then check your domain availability.

Click on proceed to continue. The next step is to fill in your contact details and payment details.

Once you’ve completed the above details, you can find yourself on the site ground page.

3. Complete Your WordPress Installation

Now here you have two options either to start a new website or migrate from other hosting platforms. Since we are installing WordPress for the first time, go ahead with the former part.

Now, select WordPress from the choose application and enter the access credentials. It’s important to remember your WordPress login credentials as you have to log in WordPress dashboard later.

Now you have to move some files to a special folder on your website called ‘public_html’. To do this, you’ll need a tool called an FTP client. A popular one is Filezilla.

To get started, you’ll need some login info called FTP credentials. You can find these in your hosting control panel.

Launch your FTP client and connect to your web server using the FTP credentials from your web hosting provider.

Most FTP clients use a similar, two-column split view.

On the left side of the screen, you’ll see the files that are on your own computer. On the right side, you’ll see a folder on the web server—that’s the online space where you want to upload your files.

To get your files onto the web server, just drag them from the left side of the screen over to the right side.

Once the files are uploaded, log into your hosting control panel. 

3. Create MySQL Database and User

The next step in our installation process is to create a database. A database is a place where WordPress stores all of your website’s content. When someone visits your website, WordPress pulls the content from the database and creates the page they see.

Now, we need to set up our database.

To create a MySQL database, log into your control panel and look out for ‘Database’ or ‘phpMyAdmin.’

The location of the database and phpmyadmin may vary on your service provider.

Next, you’ll need to create a user and set permissions to access and modify your database.
Click on “Add New User.”

It’s recommended to enter a strong username and password, and most importantly save your credentials safely. 

Great! The database is set up. Now tell WordPress to connect to our database.

4. Configure wp-config.php

The details of the database are specified in wp-config.php.

As it is a new or a fresh installation, you’ll notice a file named ‘wp-config-sample.php’ on the remote web server.

Rename this file to ‘wp-config.php’ and then double-click on the file to edit it.

Now, identify the part in the file where you’ll have to include the details of the database you just created.

DB_NAME: Enter the database name you just created.

DB_USER: Enter the username you created.

DB_PASSWORD: The password you created.

DB_HOST: This is usually a local host or an IP address.

DB_CHARSET: This is the language and encoding you selected, which is utf8.

Save and close the file when you are done.

5. Run the Installation

You are now on the final step to running the WordPress.
